PROJECT

In this class you will sew a pair of custom-fit jeans in a two day intensive class, with a focus on fit and professional looking construction. Students will pick their own, non stretch, zip fly jeans pattern and your teacher will guide you through the process of making them into your dream pair!

Please note - in order for you to get the most from your time in the class students will need to do some prep work at home cutting and basting your jeans. This is so the class can start with an individual fitting!

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?

This workshop is suitable for an intermediate or confident beginner sewist who is excited to make jeans, but needs a little encouraging hand holding and fitting advice. You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and sewing patterns.

If you have not used a sewing pattern before you will need to attend our Learn to Sew Clothes workshop first.

CLASS INCLUDES:

+ The New Craft House Everyday Jeans pattern. If you want to use an alternative jeans pattern you are very welcome to!

+Use of all tools including our PFAFF Quilt Ambition 635 sewing machines

+ Jeans zippers - we will have blue available. If you have a different coloured denim, please bring a matching 7 inch metal jeans zipper

+ Jeans rivets and buttons

+ All of the tools needed to make and finish your jeans professionally

+ Sweet treats and drinks throughout both days

There will be a one hour lunch break during both days. You will need to leave the studio during this time to give the teacher a lunch break. We are 1 minute's walk from Broadway Market which is packed with amazing places to eat and a food market.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING:

+ Your pre-cut and basted jeans. For this you will need 2-3 metres of non-stretch denim. Must be pre-washed and pressed (should bring extra in case we need to make fit adjustments to pattern)

+ 0.5 metre fusible interfacing

+ 1/2 metre cotton lining

+ 2x spool topstitching thread

+ 1 spool of regular polyester thread (ie. Mettler or Gutermann)

+ You are free to bring your own sewing machine or you can use one of our Pfaff Quilt Ambition 635 sewing machines we have in our studio

In order to make the most out of the time spent in the workshop you'll want to come to class on Saturday with your pattern pieces cut and basted. Need help? We'll be on hand via email to help you.

WHAT DO PAST STUDENTS SAY?

"I cannot believe that I actually left the workshop, as promised, with a perfect fitting pair of jeans. The two teachers were amazing and with endless patience for a student as needy as I am. Honestly, it was my birthday weekend and there could not have been a better way to have spent it. Thank you"
